Yesterday we went to our dear friends, Chad and Jodi's house for their daughter's 2nd birthday celebration. It was so fun to see them and watch the kids play together. Drew and Tirzah love to hug and kiss each other - cute now :)

And so it begins again...
Today was my (Joy) first day back to having acupuncture. I had it done about two years ago when we were trying desperately to get pregnant. I believe with my surgery, the acupuncture, and God's timing, I was able to get and stay pregnant with Drew. So, I had the endometriosis surgery again about four months ago and Eric and I decided that I should do the acupuncture as well. All I can say is that God made our bodies so intricate and amazing that I know there is much more to them than just organs (obviously). While I don't buy into all of the eastern medicine ideas, but I am a big believer in this one, at least for my body and its problems. After the needles are inserted and a heat lamp aimed at my tummy, I get to sit in the dark and listen to soft music while I am getting "acupunctured." It is very relaxing and doesn't hurt at all. I usually pray the entire time and this time also ended up falling asleep about half way through (20 minutes into it). I already feel immediate results in regards to my pain that I have constantly. Also, the circulation to my limbs is improved. Crazy!! I also will start on the herbs again, which last time was my least favorite part of the treatment. I had to boil and drink the most disgusting smelling and tasting concoctions ever. But, now they have them in powder form, so I am not as repulsed this go around. One thing that Eric (the acupuncturist) does at the beginning of the first exam is to check my pulse on both wrists in different ways with his fingers. He would ask me questions in regards to trying to get pregnant and the endometriosis, but today he also looked at me and asked if I suffered from insomnia!! Are you kidding me? YES YES YES!! How he knew that from my pulse is just weird to me, but he said that I will see improvement in that area too. I can't wait! Obviously this pic isn't of me, but it is a pic of a woman getting acupuncture done for infertility reasons and to try and get pregnant. I had needles from the top of my head to my toes. Probably about 20-30 all together, so not too bad.

Del Mar Fair...I mean San Deigo County Fair
Yesterday we took Drew to the ex-Del Mar Fair...now the San Diego County Fair. It was a beautiful day on the coast and a nice change to what we are used to up in Temecula - pure heat!! We fed the farm animals and looked at all sorts of fun things you think you need to buy. But, for once, we opted to keep our wallets in our pockets and not buy a new dog brush or mop that promises to be the best, but never holds up to that vow. We of course had a very yummy funnel cake, but decided to not try the new deep fried reese's that they were selling this year. Here are some pics of the day...

Insomnia
So, it is midnight and I (Joy) can't sleep. Yet another night of this. I definitely get it from my mom. So, I am up trying to figure out how to get a new and unique template for this blog. I am not computer savvy, but I also don't think I am completely inept. But, for the life of me, I can't figure it out. I also haven't found a template that I really like that I think Eric will like also. So, if any of you want to help me on this adventure, please feel free to give some tips...thanks and hopefully you are all sleeping soundly...
Drew's first haircut
So, this past Saturday we took our little doo-doo to get his first hair cut. Eric has been wanting to keep it longer, but it was to the point that it was getting in his eyes, so we decided to take the plunge. Drew did amazing!! Never cried! There is this really neat little hair salon for kids in Temecula, called sharkey's, and they had jeeps, cars, and jets for the babies to sit in while getting their hair cut. We set him in the Hummer, although afterwards, all he wanted to play in was the purple Barbie Jeep! Here are pics of his new big boy haircut!!
Uncle Joel visits
Joel Sawyer, Eric's college friend, visited San Diego last week for work and we were able to meet up with him for dinner at Chevy's. Drew showed him just how active a 20 month old can be during dinner. It was fun to catch up with Joel, but we sure did miss Auntie Kate. Hopefully we will be able to see her soon!

First Blog by Joy
Okay, so this is something Eric and I have started talking about lately - starting a family blog. So many people we know have one and we read them so often to hear what is going on in the lives of our friends, so we took the plunge. Actually, I did. Eric is currently out getting us In-N-Out for lunch, and I just did it on my own. we'll see if he approves or not. This is where we will share our life journey and talk about our day to day life raising the most amazing son ever, Drew. Hope you enjoy...Joy
